Piece description from the artist
Check out this cute American bison calf peeking out from beneath its mother’s chin, creating such a sweet family moment. Just look at the expression on mom’s face as she cuddles her baby! She kept her eyes fixed on me, looking very serious and protective while staying close to her little one.
I captured this special moment while photographing the buffalo roaming the open grasslands of Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Watching this family together was such a joy, especially seeing the mother’s protective nature and the little calf nestled safely beside her. I believe the bison lying down behind them may be the father, completing this peaceful family scene.
The soft, blurred grass in the foreground and rugged Badlands formations in the distance help keep the attention on the mother and calf, making their sweet connection the heart of the photograph.
