Bill Emerson A Bridge Between States

Piece description from the artist

A beautiful blue hour scene i captured of the illuminated Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA. As night settles in, the bridge lights begin to glow against the deepening sky, reflecting softly on the flowing water below. I enjoyed moving around to capture different angles, each revealing a new perspective of this striking cable-stayed structure.

Completed in 2004, the bridge carries Interstate 74 across the river, connecting Missouri to East Cape Girardeau. It replaced the historic 1929 Cape Girardeau Bridge and was named after Bill Emerson, who served in the US House of Representatives from 1981 until 1996. The bridge has also gained recognition as a filming location in the movie Gone Girl, adding a cinematic touch to its already impressive presence.
