Autumn at the Lake

Piece description from the artist

I work in both pastels and acrylics. Pastels give me the soft, slightly out-of-focus look that I'm so attracted to and acrylics have a brilliance and vibrancy in color that look and feel like oils. Recently I've been using a palette knife to "carve" the paint onto the canvas creating a 2-dimensional effect.

Autumn at the Lake
Autumn is a most beautiful time of the year. While visiting western Mass. I came across a line of red and orange maple trees on fire. I couldn't resist copying Mother Nature's palette. Only pastels give me the dreamy quality I'm always looking for.
