A closer vertical view of the historic Armour Swift Burlington (ASB) Railroad Bridge crossing the Missouri River at Berkley Riverfront in Kansas City, Missouri. I captured this photograph standing near the bridge, giving a different perspective of its massive steel framework and impressive vertical-lift design.
The weathered steel structure stands against a bright summer sky, with fluffy clouds adding depth to the scene. I love how the vertical composition emphasizes the height and intricate framework of this historic bridge while capturing a glimpse of the Missouri River below.
Opened in 1911, the ASB Bridge is a unique piece of Kansas City history and was once designed to carry both automobiles and trains. Today, its remaining railroad structure continues to span the river, offering photographers an interesting combination of historic engineering and riverfront scenery.
