Piece description from the artist
This peaceful landscape photograph showcases a mature elm tree standing proudly within Lake Springfield Park in Springfield, Missouri, USA. Photographed during a calm spring evening, the tree rises against a soft blue sky dotted with gentle clouds, drawing attention to its graceful structure and commanding presence. Fresh spring foliage brings a sense of life and renewal, enhancing the quiet, natural atmosphere of the park.
While the exact elm species is unknown, it is part of the Ulmus genus in the Ulmaceae family. With many elm trees having been lost to Dutch elm disease, seeing one thrive to such an impressive size feels especially meaningful. The image reflects themes of resilience, longevity, and the enduring beauty of nature in Missouri’s scenic landscapes.
