Piece description from the artist
In this photograph I captured, I was standing beside the historic Navajo Bridge, spanning the Colorado River at Marble Canyon. This iconic crossing is actually a pair of twin bridges, one historic and one modern, that together form one of only seven land crossings of the Colorado River across a 750-mile stretch. The original bridge, completed in 1929 after construction began in 1927, served travelers for more than six decades before a newer bridge was built to accommodate heavier modern traffic, opening in 1995. Today, the historic bridge closest to me is reserved for foot traffic, offering an incredible vantage point nearly 467 feet above the river below. This dramatic location lies within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and in the distance, the colorful cliffs of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument rise against the horizon, adding to the breathtaking sense of scale and history in this unforgettable Southwest landscape.
