Tom Segars is a lifelong Washington area resident who received his formal art training at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He worked with the Federal government as a Visual Information Specialist. His artwork has been exhibited locally and nationally in galleries and juried shows, and is included in the Navy Museum, the Air Force Art Collection, the Pro Football Hall of Fame and in private collections. His work has been published in the book, New American Paintings a showcase of regional art. In 1994 he received a fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts 1994-1995 Individual Artist Fellowship program.
His pictures comment on aspects of life such as passing fashion, rampant technology, control or “filtering” of information, and human behavior.
