Rabindranat Díaz

This artist has established a strong mark in Puerto Rican contemporary art. He is recognized as one of the island’s most original painters. His first solo exhibition PORTORIsenses, 1996, received an award from the Puerto Rico Chapter of the International Association of Art Critics for Best First Exhibition of an artist. With the use of elemental figures he produces theatrical critiques of contemporary life which outline a comical characterization of that which is earthly and human. With corporal distortions and anatomical exaggerations Díaz creates an antihero, product of being witness of a times immerse in a plot of dark humor.

He Was born in 1972 in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. Has lived and worked in San Juan, New York, Madrid and Miami
