Nancy Marcum

My paintings are made intuitively; they begin with gestural strokes of fluid paint that mix and flow into organic shapes, and are often finished with a thoughtful editing consisting of flat colors meant to highlight the most meaningful aspects of the composition. Visual influences include the natural world (especially landscape, water and minerals), handicrafts and narrative arts across cultures and history.
