About the Artist
Maya Murano grew up in Oberlin, OH, and attended Alfred University for a Bachelor in Fine Arts. She was used to working in realistic oil paints, until senior year of college when she discovered watercolors and working abstractly. The freedom and fun she finds in the looseness of watercolors, give her an ability to make small, ornate details as well large, colorful spaces.
Maya enjoys drawing inspiration from forms in nature, as well as things in her everyday life from students to her surroundings. Trees, water, imagination, and design find their ways into several of her pieces.
Maya lived in Tennesee following college and grew to love the woods and the landscape that go along with that area of the country. She now lives in Wilmington, NC where the ocean, water, beach, and coastal themes are recurring in much of her work.
