Lauren Litwa is an award winning painter who graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she won The William Emlen Cresson Traveling Scholarship Award. She traveled for three months throughout Europe where she visited the Lourve Museum, The Prado Museum and The Van Gogh Museum. Her paintings are inspired by nature, dreams and architecture. Meditation aids her in creating these surreal like lyrical worlds, one filled with color, joy, and a concern for the health of our beautiful planet.
She has traveled and painted on location at Acadia National Park, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Sedona Arizona. Residencies she’s attended are The Margo Kelb Dune Shack in Provincetown, Massachusetts and Villa Arrigo in Florence, Italy.
Awards include The Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Grant, Purchase Prize at The Pennsylvania State Museum, Fellowship with The Center for Emerging Visual Artists. Exhibitions include The Pennsylvania State Museum, The Delaware Art Museum, The Pennsylvania Governors Residence, FAME Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Philadelphia Art Alliance and The Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts.
Lauren worked in her studio in Wawa, Pennsylvania for 30 years and now lives and paints in Rockville, Maryland and Trout Run, Pennsylvania.
