About the Artist

Abstracted landscape paintings with collage are Janice’s vehicle for visually exploring man’s relationships, experiences and connections to the gift of living on this planet; giving voice to the spiritual and temporal confluence of the world we inhabit. They are landscapes of the 21st century, taking inspiration from satellite imagery, the telescope, the micro-chip, the digital camera and even the map.

When first introduced to Google Earth, her world expanded, giving Janice the ability to travel the earth and space via computer screen. She had, up to that point, been experimenting with contemporary landscape and conceptual abstraction. As a trained designer, she saw the impact of patterns, colors and textures made evident through satellite imagery and was intrigued by the way impressions of the landscape changed as this imagery zoomed closer in and further out of the satellite view. The artist decided to let those factors inform an entire series of paintings using luminous color, designed composition and descriptive textural elements woven into and added onto the surface.

A New Jersey native, Janice earned her BFA and B/Arch from Pratt Institute and worked for many years in that field. This background equips her with a wonderful ability for commission work, enabling her to successfully merge client ideas with her artistic vision.
