About Aurelia Fronty

Princeton, NJ

In her day-to-day existence, freelance children’s book illustrator and textile designer, Aurélia Fronty, is surrounded by colors and fabric. She completed her art education in design and textile design at the School of Applied Arts Duperré, in Paris, where she currently lives.

Months after beginning her first job as a textile designer for the fashion design house, Christian Lacroix, she ventured out as a freelancer. Though she’s been drawing for nearly her entire life, trips to Asia and Africa inspired Fronty to fill sketchbooks with portraits, notes and impressions from places she visited.

Her scrapbooks from abroad have been exhibited at Le Bon Marché in Paris, Turtle Island Imports, also in Paris, Peret in Barcelona and Beloved in London. Fronty designs windows and sets for Le Bon Marché and Turtle Island. She designed a collection of ‘temporary china’—made out of playdough—that’s praised for its decorative properties.

Fronty has illustrated children’s books for French publishers and publishers worldwide including book publishers: Gautier-Languereau, Didier Jeunesse, Gallimard Jeunesse and Rouergue. Her illustration within such titles as, J’ai le droit d’être un enfant, available in English, and I Have the Right to Be a Child, have been widely acclaimed. She’s also created illustration and textile design for fragrance manufacturer, Fragonard France, and toy manufacturer, Djeco.

Fronty’s illustration has been published by magazines, presses and music companies such as Marie Claire, Atmosphere, Air France magazine, Madame Figaro House, Le Figaro Literary Filotéo, Astrapi, French House and others.
