About the Artist

Anne Ierardi’s paintings are expressive in their use of color, composition, rhythm and meaning. A Boston native, she began her studies in fine arts at Emmanuel College, California Lutheran University, and in Florence, Italy. In 1989, she moved to Cape Cod where her love of painting was transformed through workshops at Castle Hill and the Fine Arts Work Center. Anne co-founded Healthsigns Center, Inc., a nonprofit center for the arts, counseling, and spirituality. Solo Exhibitions include: the Cahoon Museum, Zion Union Heritage Museum, The Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Marlborough Mathewson Chapel Gallery in Providence, Rhode Island and Andover-Newton Theological School in Newton, MA. Music and movement are most essential to her artistic process helping her access her emotions, opening to the workings of the spirit within. Once, in a life drawing class, as she was hearing the Blue Danube waltz in her head, the instructor exclaimed: “I can feel dancing in your work.” She created a “Jazz Series” of 12 portraits of jazz singers including Billie Holliday and Lena Horne . She illustrated the book "Walking with Grief: A Healing Journey." Anne writes a monthly music column for the Barnstable Patriot and illustrates portraits of the artists she interviews.
