Piece description from the artist
At Wormsloe State Historic Site in Savannah, Georgia, a mile-and-a-half avenue of more than 400 live oaks draped in Spanish moss—actually an air plant named after the beards of Spanish explorers—creates one of the South’s most iconic views. Planted in the late 1800s by descendants of colonial settler Noble Jones, the trees naturally form a tunnel as they compete for sunlight, resulting in a breathtaking, unplanned canopy that perfectly captures Savannah’s historic charm.
Phil started his career in high end computer graphics and animation which is where is extreme attention to detail came from. He specializes in creating enormous photographic landscapes using a gigapixel camera imaging system. This results in an image that suffers no lens distortion and can be printed at extremely large sizes with no loss in detail or clarity. His customers have said it is like looking out of a window.
