Piece description from the artist
Finding these old houses always makes me think of time and memory, and how one fades the other, like the paint on an old barn is faded by time. Over time, memories chip away and are lost, like peeling paint flakes off in the wind, disappearing into the earth. This weathered farmhouse, its white paint peeling to reveal the layers of decades past, stands as a silent monument to the families who once tilled and lived off the high plains. Bathed in low, golden sidelight with delicate lens flare dancing across the frame, the structure is framed by bare winter branches and shadowed dry grasses, evoking a bittersweet sense of absence and lingering grace. This image explores the architectural poetry of abandonment, suggesting a reflection on the hidden histories etched into the landscape.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
