"A wishing well and a bolt of electricity." This is a very personal piece that deals with recurring sudden loss in my life. The explosion symbolizes my frustration, pain, and panic, as well as life's unapologetic spontaneity. The title is inspired by the song, "Werewolf" by Fiona Apple; specifically the line, "We are like a wishing well and a bolt of electricity." Like a wishing well, I am full of big hopes and good intentions. But I never know when the lightening will strike again.
Joy Washington is a 21 year old photographer from North Carolina. Digital photography and photo manipulation are her passion and give her a way to explore and express the darkest and most raw parts of herself that she could never put into words. Joy especially loves working with layers on Photoshop. Her art brings her liberation and she would like to bring that same liberation to others.
