Captured on a crisp, sunlit winter day by a lake in Tennessee, "Wintersong" is one of Lauren Karp’s first abstract collections. This piece evokes the quiet solitude of winter, centering on a rugged tree trunk standing resilient amidst the soft winter grasses and the shadows of pine trees. The interplay of light and texture brings a gentle warmth to the cold landscape, highlighting the beauty of nature in its bare, unadorned state. This collection is an ode to the stillness of winter, inviting viewers to find poetry in the stark, serene moments of the season.
Lauren Karp is a Nashville-based photographer and visual artist. Her Imaginature™ images are abstract works exploring nature, transformation and time. She brings these still images to life by setting them to movement and music in her Imaginature In Motion™ digital works. Several of Karp’s installations are permanently displayed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where they greet millions of patients, staff and visitors annually. Lauren began losing her hearing over 25 years ago. Without her hearing aids, she lives in a world with little sound. Lauren finds that her visual perception is heightened, which influences her work by enabling her to capture the beauty she sees, and express it through her artwork. Karp hopes her work will delight viewers and allow them to see nature’s beauty in new and exciting ways.
