Piece description from the artist
This image was taken in a wintry day in Ann Arbor , Michigan. You can really sense the cold and the snow by looking at this image. I like the solid layer of snow at the bottom of the image. It's a very moody image.
Marc Garrison is an abstract artist and photographer whose work emphasizes process, texture, and intuitive decision-making. Using layered materials, collage, and photographic imagery, his compositions develop organically without predetermined outcomes. Photography plays both an independent and integrative role in his practice, capturing fragments, surfaces, and visual details that inform his abstract work. Garrison’s background is rooted in a lifelong engagement with visual art, driven by experimentation and material exploration. His work explores the tension between structure and spontaneity, surface and depth, creating spaces for emotional and personal interpretation. Through this process-led approach, Garrison invites viewers to engage with the work beyond fixed narratives or literal meaning
