Piece description from the artist
Tucked along Little Spearfish Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota, this small waterfall caught my attention with its cascading water and a beautiful birch tree bending over the creek. I captured this springtime scene just west of Roughlock Falls near the parking area in Spearfish Canyon, where the surrounding grasses, tangled brush, and woodland growth give the landscape a naturally rugged appearance.
The long exposure brings a silky softness to the moving water, creating an interesting contrast with the rough textures of the creek banks and surrounding vegetation. I love finding these smaller waterfalls along the way, where a simple combination of flowing water, unique trees, and untamed scenery creates a wonderful landscape photography opportunity.
