Piece description from the artist
Originally a functional art piece, this white egret was painted in acrylic on a paipo (a Hawaiian bellyboard) made from traditional Paulownia wood. This piece was created collaboratively with Grain Surfboards in York, Maine.
The board depicts a white egret, stars, and waves, symbolizing both movement and stillness. Egrets are marsh birds, living in the space where water, earth, and air merge and intersect.
