Piece description from the artist
When Sunset Weeps is a diptych that captures the hush of twilight, where fading light meets the swell of emotion. Columns of soft-edged rectangles float like windows or quiet notes, suspended in a dusk-toned field of shadowed blue, plum, and gold. Their arrangement evokes a rhythmic tension—melancholy yet luminous, as if holding the last warmth of day before night takes hold. This painting reflects on transition, longing, and the tender gravity of endings that still glow.
A native of Washington, D.C. and third-generation artist, Clare's training includes a degree in Fine Art and years of printmaking study at the Corcoran College of Art. Clare’s work has been included in group and solo shows in the in the US and overseas.
Clare's current body of work is united by the theme of ecology and relationships. Through semi abstract nature-based paintings and prints, her work explores the way hope and a sense of connection can be found even during anxious or uncertain times.
According to the artist, "Each project is a challenge for me — finding the delicate balance between process and feeling.”
