Piece description from the artist
Witnessing the Northern Lights in Missouri is an exceptionally rare experience, making this night over Fellows Lake in Springfield, Missouri truly unforgettable. Curtains of pink, red, green, and soft purple light ripple across the sky, their colors shimmering in reflection on the calm lake below. For a brief moment, a shooting star streaks through the scene, adding to the magic.
On October 10, 2025, the Aurora Borealis surged into storm mode with a KP index of 8.67, pushing visibility far beyond its usual range and reaching as far south as Florida. Deciding to head out on a busy weeknight turned into one of those rare, timeless “wow” moments. This was only the second time I’ve ever seen the Northern Lights, but the first time they were clearly visible to the naked eye, no camera required. The first time, they existed only through the lens; this time, they danced right before our eyes.
