Whale

Piece description from the artist

The base of this painting was made with a lightly sanded coat of grey. White paint was layered on the body of the whale and then scraped away with a blade to create texture. The eye of the whale is created from a smudge of charcoal and I used the tiniest brush I could find to paint the delicate stripes and tiny teeth. The gold background was painted last to make the whale pop.
I love painting animals. I like to observe and depict how each animal is unique and special- just like the viewer.
