On the day I took this photo by Wollaston Beach, on the south shore of Boston, I was having a lovelorn staycation. Taking pictures of the flowing water, among other scenes, offered me comfort amidst emotional confusion which can feel like a constantly crashing wave in the heart. The alchemy of earth – water and stone – the alchemy of the body – hard and soft – flowing and obstructed. Both have their place, and nature takes its course.
