Piece description from the artist
Large-scale piece composed of multi-layered bands of pinks, purples creates a warm and inviting painting.
Kim Holbrook is a California artist who has always been involved in creative and artistic pursuits. Growing up in the Midwest, she spent many wintry afternoons creating art. After studying the subject in college, she moved to California where the bold colors inherent to Mexican and Californian design began to influence her work. Her lively paintings are inspired by the bright, vibrant colors found in the landscape that surrounds her. The repetitive pattern in textiles, especially Native American textiles, are of particular interest, and they've inspired her to intuitively layer bold acrylic colors in multiple horizontal bands. She enjoys painting large-scale, as it is very physical and quite meditative.
