The Mirage – Las Vegas – 1989.
The Mirage is a Polynesian themed resort on the Las Vegas Strip occupying the former site of Castaways and Red Rooster Nite Club. It was built by developer Steve Wynn (Golden Nugget, Treasure Island, Bellagio, Encore) and designed by architect Joel Bergman (LV Hilton, MGM Grand, Treasure Island, Paris LV, Sahara LV, Caesar's Palace). At the time of its opening, The Mirage was the largest hotel in the world with 3,044 rooms and became home to Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat. The grand nighttime eruption of the volcano takes place nightly on the Strip.

Ashland grew up in Southeast Virginia surrounded by lush rural landscapes, great protected swamp lands, national & state parks, the Chesapeake Bay, the Eastern Shore, the breathtaking Skyline Drive & Blue Ridge Mountains, and the inlets & oceans of Virginia & North Carolina.
