Piece description from the artist
A breathtaking mountain landscape in black and white near Hogan Pass Overlook along Utah State Route 72 near Loa. In the foreground, a rustic wooden fence and cattle gate frame the distant snow-capped mountains, adding a classic Western feel to the expansive Utah scenery.
Beyond the fence, rolling hills and open valleys lead toward the towering peaks of Geyser Peak and Hens Hole Peak. Far off in the distance on the left, part of Capitol Reef National Park can also be seen beneath the dramatic sky.
Surrounded by the beauty of the Fishlake National Forest region, the scene combines forest, desert, valley, and mountain landscapes into one incredible view. Puffy clouds drift overhead while the cool mountain air and high elevation create a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly captures the rugged beauty of Utah’s backcountry. We were standing at an elevation of 8975, and the mountains are over 10,500 feet.
