Under the Reed is an abstract of stylized sea plants and grasses. Underwater blues.
I drew and cut-out shapes to block out the area for the abstract background and ink to accent the background plants that were painted over.
Cynthia Fletcher is a painter, working in oil, acrylic, and digital media. Her style is abstract with jewel-tone color, texture, layering, and symbolism. Nature is her chief inspiration, and her work focuses on experiences there, using abstraction to go beyond form to capture and communicate light, color, and sensation.
Fletcher is also a Landscape Architect who has lived and worked in a variety of environments from Chicago to the rainforest of Panama. Her lakeside studio is located in Oklahoma City.
