Piece description from the artist
The Uintas are a mountain range that are only accessible for 3-4 months of the year due to their high altitude and deep snow that covers them for the other 8 months. I try and spend as much time as I can backpacking through a mountain forest landscape dotted with hundreds of lakes.
I've always been an artist, but I took it to the next level by graduating with a BFA in Visual Arts with an emphasis in Painting. Since then, I've pursued my dream as a professional, both selling and teaching art. My work begins with a layer of altered National Geographic pages and builds through layers of ink, charcoal, and acrylic paint. I use these media because of the depth, texture, and vibrancy they allow in my paintings. I am an avid outdoorswoman, and my work is heavily influenced by the flora and fauna of the natural world. Conceptually, I explore the idea of harmonious relationships between man and their environment.
