I just love the cool twisted trees in Utah. This dead juniper tree has quite the unique character to it. The rock beside it has some cool round bright orange circles of algea known as elegant sunburst lichen, growing on it. The real name for the fungi, is Rusavskia elegans. I spotted this along the hiking trail to Upheaval Dome in Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah, USA. Beautiful clouds with a purple hue fill the sky above adding a great contrast to the orange desert landscape of rocks, sand and green desert sagebrush and plants.
