Tropical leaf birds

Tropical Leaf Birds

Piece description from the artist

This is one of my favourite experimental paintings, it features four birds in bright orange and teal, with long, curving, pink, beaks. They have delicately patterned heads and are surrounded by leaves and ink wash in varying shades of blue- and yellow- green. The piece has a delightful, fresh, tropical summery feel and really provides a bright, vibrant burst of happiness on the wall. It is framed in a lovely natural wood frame by Framebridge (the frame style is called "Marin" if you would like to take a look at it.)

About Lara Meintjes

Williamstown, MA

Agnes Meintjes, also known as Lara, is a South African and American artist, illustrator, and student happily living in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She is particularly interested in anthropomorphism and the colonizing properties of ink. Lara is fascinated by the dividing line between fact and fantasy, and the lingering imprint of childhood on our adult lives. She likes to play in the negative space between objects. Her work has appeared in books and magazines and has been shown in diverse venues all over the world ranging from an exhibition of T-shirts in Hong Kong, through group shows at private galleries in South Africa, to original paintings at museums in California. Her work has been featured in collaborations with many exciting organizations including Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, the Gap and others.
