Piece description from the artist
The name "theme park" came about as the piece was taking shape. I seldom start with a definite plan or outline rather I pick colours as I go along. I started to see shapes emerge on top, which I wanted to replicate below with water as the central theme. I found myself first painting the top half, then moving below to loosely reflect that. I was not after a mirror image more I wanted people to move their eyes up and down while enjoying the colours.
I was born in Norway and at an early age, our family emigrated to Canada.
My life has seen me both living in Norway and finally on the West Coast of Canada.
After decades of high-pressure careers, it was time to return to what I wanted to live for. That was painting, sketching and photography. I am mostly self-taught and have been producing art in one way or another for as long as I can remember.
My interest in painting has taken me on a journey over the years depicting injustice against humanity, the surreal and now more abstract concepts. I plan to keep painting and creating for as long as possible.
Painting stops time and lets me wonder into concepts and ideas with enthusiasm.
