The azalea

The Azalea

Piece description from the artist

Sometimes I will join a photography group just to check out a new location the first time, which I did in this case. The leader asked where I had taken this shot. I explained that he had to walk by it to get to some of the shots that he took further down the dock/marina. He swore that he never saw this boat! He insisted that I was wrong until others supported my version of the narrative. He had nothing to say about this image other than to say what a great eye I had what a great shot it was! I just chucked to myself.

About David Olsen

Woodinville, WA

Photography for me is an expression of art as well as a pursuit to document the world as I see it. Art has inspired mankind to express their inner most feelings. For me, the colors and light that I see inspire me to meditate and wonder at the world I live in. I strive to capture the world as I see it and experience it. Sometimes it is seen more in black and white than color, but in those instances it is the light that is speaking to me and what needs to be shared with you, my viewer.
It is the art of photography that I want to share. However, for me, the documentation of that art is what photography is all about. That documentation may take on a simple black and white image, or an artistic interpretation of the colors and light that inspired me to take that shot.
I find that sometimes it is the artistic interpretation that is what needs to be exercised as I record the true image of what I saw.
Enter the world with me and join me on my journey, see and experience the world of light and color with me!
