Thank You For Riding The Q Line

Piece description from the artist

Detroit is not often a crowded city but big events and summer heat bring everybody out. This was the first time I'd seen the streetcar truly stuffed (and still not as stuffed as some trains around the world.) Mass transit was never taken seriously here when I was growing up, given the city's car culture, and in many ways the mass transit system is like Los Angeles in the 90's, as the first tracks in that city were being laid down. The lack of a great mass transit system holds Detroit back, as young people without cars rely on it and expect it much more than they used to. My anxiety disorder prevented me from riding trains for very long time, but sheer excitement over the Q Line (and DPM) encouraged me to hop on. And I'm glad I did.
