Piece description from the artist

A woman in a flowing red dress has been lifted up into the air by two black birds above a dark, grassy hill. More birds are flying all around her, ready to escort her off into the sky. The contrast between the vivid red of the her dress and the more subdued tones of the sky and earth creates a focal point that draws the eye immediately to her figure. The painting has a dreamlike quality, evoking emotions of liberation and wonder and creates a sense of mystery as to where she might be going. The acrylic colors capture the ethereal moment of evening light blending into twilight. This painting weaves together the natural world with human emotion, conjuring a sense of limitless potential and the beauty of unbridled aspirations. It invites a tranquil yet uplifting energy into any space, encouraging viewers to embrace their own journeys of self-discovery and liberation.

About Tom Blood

St. Louis, MO

Tom Blood is a self-taught, modern-day surrealist, heavily influenced by his all-time favourite artist, Rene Magritte. Some of his early works include two crowd favorites – "Bobby Hull" which was created using a palette knife and "The Three Stooges" which was created using three primary colors. Since that time, Tom has pursued a more surrealistic path. He paints ideas. His goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With his paintings, viewers can always tell what's going on, not necessarily knowing why. He wants his paintings to tell stories that make people think, or bring a smile. His work has won numerous awards locally and he has had a number of solo shows in the St. Louis, Missouri area where he was born and raised.
