Swamp Milkweed seeds extracted from the seed pod

Piece description from the artist

Highly detailed macro image of the carefully arranged seeds from the seedpod of the Swamp Milkweed flower Asclepias incarnata which has wispy windblown feathery strands attached to brown seeds that had been carefully aligned in the shell. This image required many individual photographs focused on the various vertical slices of the seed pod which were then combined into one image sharp from front to back.

About Steven Heap

Georgetown, TX

Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
