Piece description from the artist
A breathtaking morning in black and white at Horseshoe Bend within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, captured shortly after sunrise. Early light begins to stretch across the desert, casting warm tones over distant mesas and rugged terrain, while the canyon remains in soft, lingering shadow.
From the edge of the towering cliffs, the view looks down nearly 1,000 feet to the winding Colorado River as it carves its way through the sandstone, forming the iconic horseshoe-shaped bend. The contrast between light and shadow adds depth to the scene, highlighting the immense scale and natural beauty of this landscape within the Colorado Plateau.
Located on lands of the Navajo Nation, this remarkable viewpoint captures a quiet moment of transition, when the first light of day begins to awaken one of the Southwest’s most unforgettable natural wonders.
