Sunburst Over White Pocket

Piece description from the artist

A sunburst breaks through the clouds at sunset, casting warm light over a tree in the surreal landscape of White Pocket in Arizona. Often described as “Mars on Earth,” this remote and extraordinary place is filled with swirling sandstone formations, sculpted into unique shapes, ridges, and textures that feel almost otherworldly.

Layers of orange, cream, and white stone twist and flow across the terrain, creating a natural masterpiece unlike anywhere else. Tucked within Vermilion Cliffs National Monument on the remote Paria Plateau near the Utah border, White Pocket is not easy to reach, requiring a high-clearance 4×4 vehicle, but the reward is an untouched landscape that showcases the raw, awe-inspiring artistry of the American Southwest.
