Stretch 5

Stretch

Piece description from the artist

Everybody loves cake! For this image, I needed a simple cabinet of a certain color and it was faster to build the cabinet vs scouting for one ( luckily, I love woodworking). When I build props for photos, I build them for Photoshop. I not crafting heirlooms but instead making things that will move the creation of the image along so that I can finish it in post-production. This isn’t even a cabinet – it’s just the side of one, made out of wood and propped up against a chair in the room. The base molding and bead boarding were created digitally. The marble countertop is actually a marble cutting board digitally cut and placed as the countertop. The drawers where shot separately, placed and color matched in post. The concept was to have this pup solve the problem of how he was going to get to that cake, ultimately creating his own stairway to heaven. Our model, Max, is actually a neighborhood pup who lives up the block. Working with puppies can be hard but Max was ready to go and completely fearless. We had him on a chair, stepping on some boxes, to create the levels and Amy worked her magic getting Max to stretch with an endless supply of cheese and bacon. This delicious cake was added in post as we feared Max may just make it to the plate!
