Stairway Beside Kanarra Falls Utah

Piece description from the artist

Kanarra Falls waterfall cascades beside a weathered metal staircase tucked into a narrow slot canyon, while afternoon sunlight illuminates the sandstone walls with rich orange and golden tones. I captured this long exposure to emphasize the smooth, flowing movement of the icy spring fed water as it tumbles over the rocks.

We visited during the spring season, and I have to say I was really proud of both myself and my husband for hiking through water that was only 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Even during the summer, the creek remains remarkably cold, making for a memorable adventure.

The approximately 4 mile roundtrip hike follows Kanarra creek through the canyon and can be challenging in several areas.

The metal staircase has changed over the years, making this scene a little different depending on when you visit.
