Spring Splash

Spring Splash

Piece description from the artist

This scene is a celebration of my first spring here in Colorado, where the bright red and pink flowering trees by Sloan's Lake in Denver looked especially good at sunrise. I was painting this piece live at the SpringFest Art Festival in Boulder, when a terrific gust of wind blew down my whole easel, shattering my jar of mineral spirits and splashing it all over the corner of this painting. I thought perhaps nature herself was attempting to improve my work, and she just may have, so I left the painting as-is and considered it finished.
