Piece description from the artist
Looking down from the edge of a high cliff at the cool rock formation known as Spider Rock. Located in Canyon de Chelly National Monument, it stands at the junction of Monument Canyon and reaches a height of 750 feet above the canyon floor. The morning sun was showing off the orange colors of the canyon walls. The base of the canyon features some green trees and vegetation which is cool to see in the middle of the desert. There are some farms down there too. It is part of Navajo Nation. It is a stunning geological formation with deep cultural and spiritual meaning for the Navajo Indians. The refer to it as the Spider Grandmother which she is believed to have taught the Navajo how to weave. It is also a figure of protection and guidance and is a must-see for visitors that come to the area.
