Song of the Cicadas

Piece description from the artist

The songs of cicadas raining down from the canopy of trees, swimming through the intense summer air. Various scenes play out; the dry vines and branches with the deep blue sky behind, the moonlight shining on fields, the clear cold water meeting ancient limestone and rock, all reverberating to sound. The cicadas sing the soundtrack of hot summer months, unfurling their wings in a reincarnation from life underground, finding their place in the oak trees and sending out their songs, drenching everything in their vibrations.

About Skip Myers

Austin, TX

The artwork of Skip Myers explores the world of dreams, symbolism, mythology, various religious belief systems, the human condition and our shared collective consciousness with all sentient beings. One art critic described him as an oneironaut, or one who explores alternative realities. These works are strongly influenced by personal stories, events from life painted on canvas, filtered through a process of organic abstraction and emotion, and built with vivid color and esoteric symbols.
