Piece description from the artist
Here's a wider landscape view with this cute little pine tree with a crooked trunk growing on the top of a granite rock formation in Custer State Park in South Dakota with drifting snow and a sunburst framed perfectly in the middle of the tree. You can see the snow sticking to the pine foliage and branches on the surrounding trees. The day and night before brought a late spring snow so we got up early to capture it as we hiked around Syvlan Lake Area. This tree caught my attention and I quickly saw that I could get a little sun star by framing the sun behind it. It was chilly and the wind was blowing the snow off of the branches making it look like it was snowing with the sun out and a clear blue sky. I though it was perfect. Off in the distance you can see some rock formations from Needles Highway.
