Big Spring in Mark Twain National Forest Van Buren, Missouri
The vibrant blue-green waters of Big Spring create a breathtaking scene within Mark Twain National Forest in Van Buren, Missouri, United States. This long exposure captures the movement of the water and waterfall along the bluff creating a smooth surface. As part of the Ozarks and managed by the U.S. National Park Service, this massive natural spring emerges from between giant boulders, producing dramatic, boil-like rapids. On average, an astonishing 288 million gallons of water flow from the spring each day, enough to fill the St. Louis baseball stadium in just 33 hours. Recognized as the largest spring in the United States, Big Spring is a true natural wonder and a must-see destination for nature lovers.
