Smooth Waters At Big Spring

Piece description from the artist

Big Spring in Mark Twain National Forest, Van Buren, Missouri

This long exposure photograph beautifully captures the motion of Big Spring’s waters, smoothing their surface and enhancing the striking blue-green hues of this natural wonder. Located in Van Buren, Missouri, within Mark Twain National Forest and managed by the U.S. National Park Service, Big Spring is part of the Ozarks’ breathtaking landscape. The spring surges through massive boulders, creating dramatic, boil-like rapids. On average, an incredible 288 million gallons of water flow from Big Spring each day, making it the largest spring in the United States.
