Sitting Giraffe

Sitting Giraffe

Piece description from the artist

A giraffe sits upon a grassy hill surrounded by small white and purple wild flowers. It gazes towards the viewer as if posing for its portrait. Behind it, Acacia trees fade into the haze of the African afternoon. The late day sun illuminates the puffy clouds, giving them a warm tint. Giraffes typically rest while standing up, but that does not mean they are unable to sit or lie down. Apparently, it is not particularly good for their circulatory systems as they get older, so this would have to be a young giraffe. In fact, I got the idea for this work when I saw a baby giraffe sitting in a similar position.
