Piece description from the artist
The landscape of rural Idaho creates a beautiful and calming surrounding for this rustic little building, which used to be an old one-room schoolhouse, used by schoolchildren in the nearby farms. I love to find these little buildings and document their charming simple style. Surrounded by the wilderness of the American West, these charming schoolhouses hold the memories of simpler times, and remind us that enjoying the slowness of being connected to the land is still a great way to live life.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
