Piece description from the artist
I love to photograph the wide open spaces of the American West. This photograph captures the weathered charm of a classic Montana barn nestled against the quiet landscape of the Flathead Valley. I immediately fell in love with the gambrel roof, faded red paint, and the integrated green-roofed silo adds a unique architectural focal point. In the foreground, a sweep of golden, windswept grass creates a sense of motion and depth, framing the barn as a timeless sentinel of rural life. The composition, characterized by soft natural light and a subdued color palette, evokes a feeling of nostalgia and the enduring spirit of the Big Sky Country.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
